Object Identifiers - Create or Update an Object
CAUTION: Importing Risks will not update existing risks, but instead always create new risks. To avoid duplicates, always edit risks through the Ciso webapp interface.
When importing domain objects, Ciso will try to determine if the object already exists and, if so, update the existing object. There are three different kinds of object identifiers that Ciso can use to match imported objects to existing objects:
- Ciso ID,
- External ID, or
- Name
These IDs will be tried in order, using the next one if the import row lacks the first. Ciso ID is the most exact, as this value is unique and generated on creation in Ciso. External ID is unique and can be set by the user when creating or updating items through import. If neither Ciso ID nor External ID is available, the field Name will be used to identify a matching object. When using names to identify objects, the name must be unique or errors will occur. If Ciso fails to find an existing object for any of these three identifiers, a new item will be created with the defined name.
