Preparing a File for Import
File Requirements
Allowed File Formats: CSV Allowed Delimiters: comma, semicolon, tabs Max file size: 8 Mb
Download a Template
To download a CSV file template to populate with your domain objects, follow these steps:
-
Click on the cogwheel located in the top navigation panel and go to Imports.
-
In the left navigation panel under Imports, click the import menu item for the domain-object type to import.
-
In the drop-down menu labeled "Delimiter", select the delimiter of the CSV file
-
At the label called "Identify Relations", choose how you want to identify relations between domain objects.
Tip: Not setting up relationships right now? The relationship identifier won't affect your import, so any option will work.
-
Decide whether you want to include the current content in your organization in your template or not.
-
Download the template and save it on your computer.
-
Finally, fill in your domain objects of the chosen type in the template. See file requirements for maximum size limit.
CAUTION: For some fields, the data type required for input will change based on the chosen relationship identifier. If you intend to create relationships during import, read Defining Relationship During Import to learn more.
Edit Existing File
If data already exists or is exported from another system, editing an existing file can be easier than using a downloaded template. See file requirements for allowed file formats and maximum file size.
To prepare an existing CSV file for import, follow these steps:
- Click on the cogwheel located in the top navigation panel and go to Imports.
- In the left navigation panel under Imports, choose the type of domain object to import.
- Look for the required headers for your import.
- Open your CSV file.
- Ensure that the first row of your CSV file contains the required column headers.
- Finally, ensure that the information has the expected data type in each column.
CAUTION: For some fields, the data type required for input will change based on the chosen relationship identifier. If you intend to create relationships during import, read Defining Relationship During Import to learn more.
