Upload, Preview, and Finalize Import
Before importing a file, you need to prepare a file for import. After doing so, follow these steps below.
Upload a Prepared File
To upload a prepared file, do as follows:
-
Click on the cogwheel located in the top navigation panel and go to Imports.
-
In the left navigation panel under Imports, choose the type of domain object to import.
-
In the drop-down menu labeled "Delimiter", select the delimiter of the CSV file
-
At the label called "Identify Relations", choose how you want to identify relations between domain objects.
Tip: Not setting up relationships right now? The relationship identifier won't affect your import, so any option will work.
-
At the input field labeled "File", click the button called "Choose file" and browse for the file to import.
Note: If your file contains fields not listed in the required or optional headers, any data in those fields will be ignored. A preview of ignored fields is presented at the bottom of the content area after choosing a file to be imported.
-
Next, click the button called "Show Preview" in the bottom right of the content area.
Preview and Finalize Import
After clicking the button called "Show Preview", the changes that the file will make are shown in a preview window. Each row of data from the file is presented in a table:
- Data that doesn't involve changes appear in the table as grayed-out rows.
- New data that will be created is presented with the status "Create".
- Existing data that will be updated is presented with the status "Update".
- Data containing incorrect fields is presented with the Status "Error" in red. To get more details, hover over the help icon.
After reviewing your import, scroll to the bottom right of the content area. Press the "Finalize" button
Note: Data with incorrect content or does not involve changes will be ignored during import.
